Lifetime in development for 'A Day Late' movie

Lifetime is in development on a TV movie adapted from the bestselling novel "A Day Late and a Dollar Short" from author Terry McMillan.Ostar Prods. has acquired the rights to the book, which is McMillan's fifth novel and was published in 2001. Tome spent 12 weeks on the NY Times bestseller list, three of them at No. 1.Steven Tolkin is set to direct, with Shernold Edwards on board to write the telepic. Tolkin and Bill Haber will exec produce.Other books written by McMillan, who often examines African-American lives in her novels, include "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "Waiting to Exhale," both of which were adapted into feature films. Lifetime is set to premiere "Five" on Oct. 10. Cabler will offer an anthology of five short films -- all looking at how breast cancer affects women's lives -- directed by Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Alicia Keys, Penelope Sphreeris and Patty Jenkins.
