Djimon Hounsou Joins Bradley Cooper in Paradise Lost
Sure, we’ve already gotten a sneak peak of what Bradley Cooper could look like as the devil in Paradise Lost, but that doesn’t mean Legendary Pictures is done casting their adaptation of the John Milton novel. Just today, Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou joined the Alex Proyas-directed production as Abdiel, the angel of death. If Paradise Lost still needs an archangel of divine street fights, may we suggest Ryan Gosling? [Variety]

Brooke Hogan Defends Relationship With Father Hulk Hogan
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Brooke Hogan faced a bit of heat this week after her father, wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, was photographed posing next to her nude PETA portrait during the unveiling at Miamis Cafeina Lounge. However, Brooke, who brought her dad to the event on Thursday to celebrate his 58th birthday, says her father was simply showing parental support. [Im] SO sick of people saying me and my dad are in some perverted relationship! the aspiring singer, 23, Tweeted on Saturday. Go home and do your own thing! Stop picking on me! she added. The black and white portrait (which shows Brooke posing nude inside of a cage, but doesnt reveal any private parts) is meant to raise money for animal activist group PETA a cause dear to the 23-year-olds heart. Ive always had a love for animals, and Ive seen abuse firsthand. It ignited my passion for saving them even more, Brooke, who, in addition to her father, also brought her beloved Pomeranian to the unveiling, told the Miami New Times. I have a Pomeranian and once you know how emotional and intelligent they are, its hard to know that they are hurting around the world. The worst part is that they are voiceless in our world, so its our job to stand up for them, she added. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc. Brian Williams Talks Daughters Upcoming Judd Apatow HBO Series Girls
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- NBC Nightly News host Brian Williams wont be the only one in the Williams family in the spotlight after daughter, Allison Williams, makes her HBO debut in the Judd Apatow-produced upcoming new series, Girls. They just wrapped shooting in New York, Brian told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Access Hollywood Live on Friday in New York City. Im very proud of her. She aced college, something her dad didnt do, and shes going to be in an HBO series called Girls, the newsman said. Its young women, post-college, struggling to get by in New York City, he said of the series that he believes will hit the air in spring 2012. Like a younger Sex and The City, but not as sort of tawdry? Kit asked. Right, I think [it is] probably grittier, more metropolitan, he explained. Brian warned that he didnt think it was going to resemble another, more male-dominated, HBO series. Someone has said Entourage for girls, but I think thats probably inaccurate, he continued. Its not the fun [those characters] have and the kind of living the life like they do. The proud father isnt worried about his daughter getting caught up in the pitfalls of Hollywood. Since she was about 4, shes had her head screwed on straight, he told Billy and Kit. I stand back and admire her. She has always done the right thing. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc. Movieline's Week in Review: Say Whaaat?
The first week of August (and the official beginning of the end of summer) rolled by in fine fashion; sure, it was at times an agonizingly slow news week, but the first looks, surprise developments, and WTF? revelations kept things bouncy. Head into the weekend with your head held high, week. You gave us plenty to munch on. For starters: The terms “Brett Ratner” and “Oscars” in the same sentence? You so crazy! Movieline tried to friend request the Breaking Dawn pirate, who held a press conference in Argentina claiming her innocence. Captain America found some foreign allies at the box office while the teachers of America found a friend in Matt Damon. Holy matrimony, Batman! A wedding broke out at a Dark Knight Rises fight. R.I.P. Bubba Smith, a/k/a Lt. Hightower. Brett Ratner is producing the Oscars. Wait, is that a good thing? Soderbergh is directing second unit on The Hunger Games. Wait, is that a good thing? A tip or two (or 9) for Warner Bros. in their endeavor to make an edgier Green Lantern sequel: Hire Odd Future. Thanks to this week’s Movieline interviewees Rachel Weisz, J.K. Simmons, Jayma Mays, the makers of Bellflower, and this week’s Verge designee John Boyega. And finally a batch of exciting first looks to kick off your weekend: Superman! Catwoman! Roberto Benigni!!
